About Me

I’ve been fascinated by guitars and how they make sound for most of my life. As a teenager I began performing basic repairs in a local music store, and after graduating high school I built my first guitar under the guidance of Vermont Instruments school of luthiery. The moment I first strung and played a guitar of my own making was very powerful. In 2013 I had the opportunity to spend time in Japan learning from veteran hand builder Shinya Hibi, an experience that has had the most influence on my work. In 2021 I relocated my shop to western Maine, at the site of a former saw mill. I’m lucky to be near the White Mountain National Forest and I regularly hike and camp amongst some of the tree species that are found in my guitars. Feel free to get in touch with any questions about my shop or my work. Thanks for reading! - Alex
