Edney Guitars Instrument Service Agreement

1. All instruments will be given an estimated price quote before work begins. Estimates are an approximation and final repair costs may vary slightly due to the nature of the work being performed. Taxes, parts, strings and material fees may be additional and should be expected. We do not accept credit cards. A 50% Deposit is required for any repair estimated to cost over $1,000.00. Acceptable forms of payment for the deposit are personal check, money order or cash.

2. Standard hourly repair rate is $80 per hour. Every Repair and Evaluation is subject to a minimum $50 bench fee. Instruments that are quoted and not repaired may be charged the bench fee. Instruments that are repaired will have the bench fee waived. All instruments will have a string change if old strings need to be removed in order to do the repair. Structural and cosmetic repairs will be evaluated and estimated based on damage and the amount of time involved.

3. Turnaround times will be estimated at the time of evaluation. Due to the nature of instrument repair and all the factors involved (woodworking, finish work, parts availability, current workload, humidity conditions, etc.), turnaround times may vary and be extended - sometimes considerably. Every effort will be made to complete the work in the time estimated, however, extended turnaround times will not be considered a negotiable point for payment or the terms of this agreement.

4. All repairs will be performed with current methods, materials and technology. All attempts will be made to perform a proper repair with a minimum of visible evidence. Sometimes a repair cannot be made completely invisible. Instruments will be repaired to be structurally sound. The finish cannot always be repaired but will be touched-up to the degree possible. Supports will be added internally if necessary to ensure that the repair will remain structurally sound. Some structural repairs may alter the tone of an instrument. Touch up of the stain and finish may be visible and noticeability will vary with the age and condition of the finish. The sheen or luster on newly touched up areas may not match due to wear, natural aging or changes in the availability of finishing materials.

5. All commitments and estimates pertaining to repair work, turnaround times and cost are based on my best estimate of the ability of your instrument to withstand the necessary stresses of gluing, clamping and any dis-assembly and reassembly required to complete the repair(s). Edney Guitars will not be responsible for any loss of value in any instrument during a repair or any time in the future due to method of repair or use of current materials to perform any service function. Parts removed and replaced from customer’s instruments will only be returned if specifically requested in advance.

6. The Client will be notified when the work is completed. Instruments are expected to be picked up in a timely fashion. All work will be paid for prior to the instrument’s release from Edney Guitars. Certified funds or cash for final payment are required. Instruments will be released only to their owner unless prior arrangements are made in writing. Edney Guitars will not be responsible for instruments left after 90 days from the date of completion. Instruments left after 90 days will be considered abandoned and will be sold to recover repair costs unless prior arrangements are made in writing. Items left over 30 days after notification of completion are subject to a care and storage fee of $100 per month - There Will Be No Exceptions!

7. My warranty applies only to those instruments properly humidified and stored in hard shell cases after completion. Any warranty claims for repairs performed are subject to an in-person evaluation before guaranteed. Setup specifications come with a 90 day warranty during which adjustments to neck relief and playing action are provided free of cost.
